TRANSCENDENT LAVATORYPUBLIC INTERIOR | 2015 | KABK
The project began with an investigation on ultimate hide-outs. After the specification of an immune and serene place’s characteristics, a public function and a location was determined for the project. I chose to transform a public toilet into a harmonious hideaway and place it on the Moerwijk railway station’s platform. The location’s distinctive orange entree hallways gave a challenge to its peer. This project led me to focus more precisely on the act of the form. My goal was to create an uplifting movement that would detach the spirit of the regular truth. A rising floor that leads to the cabin’s seat, underneath the gap that permits the escape. The hard and shiny brass as the material refers to spaceships and other flying vehicles and assures the passenger of his/her safety on the transcendence. |
